Wasn't sure where to post this question so if there's a better place, sorry.

My gf's macbook broke and she got a new laptop, but still has the old one (motherboard is dead). I was wondering if I could take the display out of her macbook and wire it up to a dvi or vga or any other plug and use it as a monitor for another computer. Does anyone know if it's possible or if it's been done before?

There's not a real practical reason for wanting to do this, I mainly wanna do it "just because." Might be a fun little project for me

normally it is possible, you can get programs that simulate the macbook as an external display, but sadly these require a working motherboard :/
