I have a 2021 iPad Pro. I have an SSD with images. How can I use the Photos app to view these images? I can see them in the Files app, but I can’t do things like play a slideshow from the Files app. I want to be able to run a slideshow of the images on an external drive. Is there another app that allows the user to see the external drive or is the Files app the only one? Thx!

You cannot do this with iOS/iPadOS I'm afraid. You could import all the photos into your library, but obviously it makes sense that you might not want to.

On MacOS the Photos app gives you the option to create another library which you can use for temporary things like this, but sadly not on iOS/iPadOS.

That is too bad. They also need make a way to safely eject the drive. I turn off the iPad to remove drives cause I’m too scared to just yank it out. Thanks for the reply though. I appreciate it.

External drives on iOS are mounted "sync"; any changes you make to the filesystem will fully complete as soon as the system tells you it's done. This makes it completely safe to just unplug media once you're not accessing it.
