As it is, I had a weird dream last night that I got my iP6 (it was the wrong colour and so I freaked out, but that's not the point of this topic).
In the dream I actually tried out a 'feature' whereby you could use the Touch ID sensor as media controls, for example if the phone is in your pocket or you're keeping it under a desk or you don't want the screen on / can't see the screen.
Examples:
Tap once: Play/Pause
Swipe right: Forward one track
Swipe left: Back one track
Is this possible?
