Use USB-C to power another device

I'll buy an Apple TV I was wondering if I could use the USB-C port to power another 5V device with for example a USB-C to microUSB cable? Someone tried this before?

In theory it sounds good but I contacted Apple about this a while back and they said no. It's not set up for that reason.

The Apple TV usb-c port is not a data or power port.

The USB-C port is for service only, or connecting to iTunes to recover the OS
