Used M1 Pro worth it?

I'm looking to buy an MBP to tide me over until the next big refresh happens. I figured the M1 Pro will be the bast value, since M3 is brand new and M2 gains are marginal while having a much slower SSD. My only worry is that since it's now nearly a 3 year old computer, used options will be quite used. Is it still worth buying one in 2024? Or should I pay the extra $1000 for an M3 Pro? The savings are pretty big and I don't really need the latest and greatest right now, I'm just hesitant to buy used. If it is worth it, could someone point me to a reputable source to purchase from? I've found some options on eBay, FB Marketplace, r/Appleswap, Swappa, and macsales.com. Unfortunately I don't have access to the MacRumors marketplace, otherwise I'd imagine that would be the best place to buy.

My M1 Pro 14" MBP still tears through almost everything I throw at it. I'm likely not going to look to upgrade until there's a chassis redesign that hopefully makes it a bit less chunky. That likely won't happen until the M5 or M6 series comes out. If you're looking for a machine that can get you through the next 3-4 years the M1 Pro still rocks (unless of course you're doing heavy duty 3D).

Just find a reputable seller on a reputable site, or see if you can find a refurbished or open box model at places like Best Buy, Adorama, or Apple directly.

Yup exactly. Holding off till a chassis redesign. Rumors suggest 2026 will have OLEDS, so I’d imagine we will see some sort of design refresh then. Just need something to get me through until then. Will check out Adorama thank you!

I just recently got an M1 Pro to match with my pc and it shreds anything I do on it. I bought it second hand and the only issue ive ran into is a sleep issue which im trying to resolve right now. I got mine for $820 US for context.

Great machine that rolls through Lightroom and Photoshop and Macrumors lol
