Although this is hardly a new thing, or something that is limited to mac pros, it's more common lately and very heavily concentrated among mac pros that are selling.

Is it me or are people trying to push low end, old model mac pros for substantially more than normal prices by loading them up with blatantly pirated software?

Low end 2006 mac pros generally sell for pretty low prices. But as of the last couple months, I've seen an explosion of people trying to sell low end 1,1 and 2,1 mac pros for anywhere between 500 to 1000 dollars higher than normal.

It's always the same stuff. Toast and the full adobe suite with no CDs, nothing regarding serials or registration.

In the past people would just try to dump their old crapped our mice and keyboards on you for extra money but are people really spending this huge premium for pirated bloatware on an old machine or am I late to the party and I've just never noticed a behavior that has always existed?

I'm on the same page. That's not even software I would be using nor would I pay an extra penny for what I view as pirated bloatware.

Admittedly, I'm interested in a 2,1 or 1,1 for a pet project. I could buy a newer model but I find it silly when someone thinks I'll buy a machine full of pirated bloatware for a premium.

I got my used MP from Mac in a box. Paid probably 200 more than if I got a more stripped down 2009 shell and built it out myself but liked their rep. I saw a handful of other 2nd hand retailers with good reputations as well.

Might be worth reaching out to them and seeing if they have something lying around that can help you.

Is it possible we're seeing this as a response to the anticipated minis being undeniably better for almost everything than the older model mac pros?

Just be careful of eBay listings advertising 2012 systems then actually delivering a 2009 system. They claim the bloated additional software is meant as the 2012.
