You can by a 13" i7, 256 in the Canadian Refurb store for only $1239 with a full one-year warranty. They don't have any similar 11s at the moment, but they'd clearly be going for less than you're asking.

You can buy a brand-new one like yours (but faster and USB 3.0) for 1429.

The accessories you added are, in resale terms, more or less incentives. You won't really get any money for them.

Well there is still the 15% tax that you save, but I think it's true that accessories are pretty much worthless. I should have bought an extra 85W MagSage instead of a 45W one just so that it would work with my any future Mac laptop I would have. Now I want to buy the rMBP and 45W isn't enough so I'd rather sell it. I can't blame no one but myself for this move though.

I am using my old MBA charger on my rMBA at the moment. I keep it at work and it charges, albeit much more slowly. It definitely keeps the battery from running down, which is usually all you need from a second charger.

And I just assumed you were going to charge the tax and pass it on to Mr. Harper. :p

I can't seem to find a buyer for my 2011 11" MBA with i7 and 256GB SSD. I'm asking CA$1200 (slightly less in USD) including 2 Apple chargers and a Willow&Co (wool and leather) case.

I wouldn't mind letting it go for 1100$ but some people seriously offer 700-800$ and it's pissing me off. It seem to be harder to sell than my previous MacBook Pros.

It cost me CA$1650 + 15% tax and the accessories which comes to a little over 2000$. I think asking for 1200$ is reasonable but apparently people disagree.

The last gen i7 is slower than the me i5. See my post earlier.

Most people won't value maxed out configs, hence you won't get good prices if you sell your maxed out MBA.

I think I'd be able to sell my 11" i7/4GB/128GB for ~1000USD and I'd be happy with it considering that I paid 1280USD for it. But if I had 256GB SSD instead, I'd expect more in return but the buyers would'nt want to pay that much more for it after they factor in prices of base configs of MBAs 2012.

Well, when I first got the 11" MBA last July the thought was that it would be my 'quick on-the-go' Mac for basic use (email, dialing into work, MobileMe apps, etc).

It immediately filled the larger MBP and iPad gap nicely, but little did I know how fast, sleek, light and usable the 11" MBA would be, and the more I used it, the more I realized that I would like (not really *need*) more storage and more memory.

I figured I'd wait for the next update to re-order with a bigger SSD and some more memory when the options become available. So, my new 11" with 8GB/256GB is on its way. There is nothing quit like the 11" MBA - it's what every NetBook should have been. A mini-MacBook on steroids that feels rock solid, runs silently and is extremely thin and light.

I did exactly the same thing.

I bought the 2011 MBA with 128GB SSD just to see if I could live with the 11" form factor. What I discovered - after playing with the notion of buying a 2012 "ultimate" 13" - was that I could not live without it.

For me, the only limiting factor of the 2011 was the SSD. The 256 suits my needs well enough. Apple took a week to deliver; and I'll put my 2011 up for sale in the next several weeks. I imagine I'll be lucky to realize $700, but that's the way tech works. I'm content to "chase" tech in this case, and aware that I'm paying a premium for the supreme usability of the 11" MBA.

I'd love to get another 11", but eBay prices are crazy. I could almost get a 'new' one from the Apple refurb store!

Amazon is selling the 2012 MBA 11.6" i5/4GB/128 for $1063.45. Granted yours has an i7 vs. an i5.

Looking at apple.com your config is $1249 + tax for a 2012 model.

What you paid for it a year ago has nothing to do with what people would pay now. Higher-end laptops just don't hold their value as well, and the accessories you mention aren't that valuable.

Sorry dude!

First, many (most?) people don't know about the Apple refurb store. Second, most likely pay sales tax on apple.com purchases but not eBay, so that can easily be 9% added cost.

The thing with eBay prices is the seller just has to find one buyer who is either uninformed and/or lives in a place with excessive sales tax (as high as 10%!). What is no bargain for you may be a decent deal for someone else, or at least is so within their perception.

Now I'm considering keeping my 45W and using it with my rMBP along with the MagSafe 2 adapter.

Just a quick question: Does it always charge the rMBP, even if it's slow? Have you tried while doing heavy things like gaming?

I don't mind the charging being slow, as long as it doesn't lose charge while gaming. I wouldn't want to have to wait for it to charge before gaming when my battery is low by fear of it crashing mid-game :p.

That's a good question and the answer is - no it doesn't. I realized that if I have XMBC running, even if it's not playing anything, the status goes to "not charging." So while I don't do heavy gaming at work (where the old adapter is) I'm pretty sure you might have a problem with it under those conditions.
