Well, if Safari had FlashBlocker like FireFox, then most likely Safari would almost never crash. :p

I have ClickToFlash installed and it hardly ever crashes. ;) However I have just downloaded Chrome at work to see what its like and it is surprisingly quicker than Safari. Only thing is it looks terrible. It looks like some student has designed it.

Hahahaha good joke ;)

I would be so awesome, I mean opera is odd looking, firefox is horrid, camino doesn't deserve to be a browser, safari is the best but does it have to crash often?!

How can Safari be the best when it crashes often? I mean, how could a certain bicycle be the best when it always has flat tires?

In my opinion, Firefox is by far the best browser - it's fast, all developers user it AND the product is multi-platform. I get to use the same browser on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. That's an absolute killer feature for me.

Update

Its obvious that the eminent update is due to the fact that MacBook Pros and Mac Pros will be refreshed tomorrow...er, at least, many have convinced themselves in what is now part 6 of the "Waiting for Arrandale" thread.

I say that tongue in cheek, but sadly, I am one of those sad saps hoping for a refresh this week.

It is nicer than firefox because: it has a nicer interface, it isn't ugly, it has good features, it isn't as glicthy, firefox is slow and rendering images, firefox updates too often it pisses me off (I asked it not to install updates and it still does..).

Why it's worse:

It crashes more often and it doesn't have as many addons.

I hope it fixes safari for me, safari has been a problem for me since i upgraded to SL!

I had Leopard and first did a UPGRADE to Snow Leopard. What a mistake! Safari crashed on me all the time too (multiple times a day). I did a "Reset Safari" in hopes that it would fix my issues and it did not. So I decided to do a Archive and Install. Unfortunately Apple does not offer that option with Snow Leopard, so here is what I did.

Boot off the Snow Leopard DVD, and before starting the Install, open Terminal from the Utilities Menu (I believe it is utilities, just find Terminal and open it). Create a folder on the root of your hard drive, call it something like bakup and mv all the directories and files in to the bakup/ directory (you may have to browse the /Volumes/ directory to find your hard drive). Then continue on with the Snow Leopard install and obviously do not format your hard drive. Snow Leopard will be a fresh install in your free space and when the install is done, you can go through your bakup and mv things into proper places, delete what you do not need to keep. Only problem with this solution, is it assumes you have enough hard drive space. After I did this install, I have no issues with Safari and I even run the flash beta release.

Hope that helps.

not to intrude on browser preference, but any word on what this is going to fix? * shoulda read up the page a bit. My bad!

092002-prerelease_10.6.3.jpg

Oh, a picture of a computer screen. Must be true! :)

I call BS. If the update download did not have that ***PRERELEASE*** text, I would have been more apt to believe this--perhaps it was accidentally uploaded to the update server early. But the fact is, there is little if any chance that a factory formatted machine would conveniently have preconfigured access to Apple's beta development servers. Besides, if the update is still clearly red flagged as a beta, there is little probability that we will see it released today or tomorrow. Certainly, I could be wrong, but I bet that both this update and any new hardware has been put aside: right now, it's all iPad, all the time for Apple. Apple has a mere 4-5 days to finish the iPad OS (or at least change all the text on Beta 5 to reflect an RTM build promotion) if they hope to actually ship the bloody things on time.

What's wrong with Camino? It's fast, light and looks pretty. I use Camino as my main web browser and don't have any problems. In fact, Camino works well with nearly zero chrome, as I have it set so there is no bookmark or toolbar. It's really slick.

use chrome
Never.

Me too once they created a DNS service, OS, Email, videos,411 calling, and more FREE I hate not having to pay!
What could be worse than handing all your information over to advertising companies? You do realize that you aren't a Google customer, right? Google's customers are advertisers, and I'm not ready to let them know everything about me.

Taking a picture of a screen is just as easy to Photoshop as faking a screenshot. Considering it's just one extra step: take picture of faked image on computer screen.

That would be more difficult for an inexperienced Ps user, since not only the image is skewed but it would've been more difficult to realistically clone the weird screen colors caused by shooting the screen directly. Or at least that would be what he's probably thought.

You know, Occam's Razor and all...

Perhaps if this is a fake, than it was faked on screen and then photographed rather than doctored after being photographed.

From what I'm hearing, it's impossible to receive prerelease Mac OS X updates by accident. You may, however, alter the server Software Update is accessing, but the only server which is serving prerelease Mac OS X updates is protected by login. You need to provide certain credentials to be able to access it.

Also, Apple has never dubbed any prerelease with the **PRERELEASE** tag, like the photo shows.

Jeez, just release it already... Feels like there has been talk about this update for ever!
Oh wait that's because it has been ages!!

I can't tell if you're being serious.
Obviously it would be a photograph of a photoshopped picture displayed on q screen.
