I am a recent switcher and am now the proud owner of a 1.33 17" PowerBook :D (this thing rocks!)

Machine originally shipped with 10.2.7 but I have since done an erase and install of Panther and patched up to 10.3.1 ... Panther is running like a dream (though I have to admit I'm still getting used to the Finder, last time I used a Mac it was running OS 7.5  ) ... however one thing continues to elude me ... everytime I switch users the internet connection (dialup via internal modem) drops!

The other account is a managed account (don't trust my gf not destroy anything  ) but I don't think that should make any difference ... I am assuming it is permissions related but can't think of what I might need to change

Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

Well first of all...Congrats on your PB purchase!

Try this:

Go go the Apple Menu and then to System Preferences, then click on Network, then on Internal Modem. When that screen comes up click on PPP Options, then uncheck the box that says "Disconnect when user logs out". While your there I would also uncheck the 2 boxes above it.

-Prompt every xxx minutes to maintain connections.

-auto disconnect if inactive for xxx minutes

I believe they are on by default when you install Panther. At least they were for me on my FP iMac.
