I had probably 15-20 podcasts which I did not subscribe to, but had simply added a couple random episodes to my library, which are now gone. I have no way of remembering or finding what the shows were now, let alone specific episodes.
explained:
I subscribed to Shows A, B, C, and D.
For Show M, I had only ever had interest in one specific episode that I had added to my “Library”. I hadn’t downloaded the file, but since the episode was in my “Library” I could find it under the “unplayed“ section, etc.
There were probably 15-20 shows like Show M for me, usually containing just one, or perhaps a few specific episodes that I had “bookmarked” over the months to come back to. Now, those all cease to exist because they weren’t “subscribed” (followed) or had any episodes permanently downloaded. Off the top of my head I will be able to remember 1 or 2 show names so at least I can get them back (but will have to browse hundreds of episode descriptions again), but for the most part, this list of shows and/or episodes is gone.
I loved that I didn’t have to subscribe to shows I did not care about but was still able to have a specific episode topic/guest bookmarked that I could easily come back to. I loved that I didn’t have to download every one of them at the time in order to do so, as I often had memory space/data issues. I loved that even though I wasn’t subscribed to them, I could once in a blue moon locate the cover art from my “bookmarked” episode and manually check to see if there had been a new topic/guest that I might want to “bookmark” as well.
I assume I am totally screwed and that there is no way to even access this list of shows to remind myself of what I had “bookmarked“? Unless I can force my brain to have a precise photographic memory from every day over the last few years, I’m f*^ked, right? I’m actually heartbroken because there were some real good things I wanted to come back to but my brain will never be able to remember each one of them. This is so unfortunate, especially in a world where you might have a favourite guest or topic that appears on random podcasts that you’ve never heard of and never will remember their names. Bah.
