Knowing where you'll need to present your passport because borders have changed might be useful... Knowing that some towns and cities have changed their names might be useful.... A USSR-era map will help you get to Leningrad, but only a newer (or much older) map will get you to St Petersburg...

Well you know what I had in mind.

It's been a little more than a week since my report, still no notification and no POI on the map.

However, if I search for it, it comes up with the information I provided and the pin in the correct spot. I know this because the address is labeled slightly different from what was there to what I submitted, but it has my submitted data. Before, when I did a search, nothing came up, so yes, Apple is getting the ball rolling.

I read the original post and MR article, and didn't really believe it. Just for the heck of it, I made three changes by sending error reports for issues I knew about for local business that moved or closed. 2-3 years of reports - nothing...

This morning I read this at 9to5Mac: http://9to5mac.com/2014/06/29/apple...ta-every-day-with-user-submitted-corrections/ and opened up Apple Maps about an hour ago to check, and holy crap! - all three reports were fixed! For once, the nearby Best Buy and a Denny's are shown in the correct place!!!

I won't expect any updates to aerial photos for a few months - most flyovers that I know about aren't scheduled until August or early September, and they won't be for sale until 30-45 days after that (and they're not cheap either...). I submitted two more error reports - an Indian restaurant that closed months ago (and previously reported), and a Post Office reported in the incorrect place, and I'll see what happens.

Apple maps still has a while to go. An example is that saw a concert earlier this month at the PNC Bank Arts Center (a pretty well known amphitheater) and I wanted directions to the venue. While Google Maps pulled it up right away, Apple Maps didn't recognize the name of it at all.

Edit: And I reported this several times a few months ago.

Try it again. I'm way farther than you, put the same results, and it came up.

They finally listened! Thanks Apple
