the previous record was 24,892 users on Aug 28, 2008 at 11:47 PM. why don't we all set up a time and date to break this record, maybe even on the same day at the same time? to break the record on the same date and the same time but a different year would be quite cool.

other times could be used if people are unable to come on at that time, but wouldnt it be great for members of macrumors to take part in a record on macrumors?

Don't worry. When Apple is releasing "the next big thing," everyone will be around.

On that day, the record shall be broken.

apple recent big thing was the ipad, and records were not broken that day, so who to say that the release of a new product will ensure the record to be broken?

Yeah, that's why when the iPad came out, we broke that record, then again with the iphone 4.

    Wait a minute...

I ment something bigger. I don't know what, but something crazy. I ment big in terms of the Intel switch or the original introduction of the iPhone.

Anyway, was there anything special announced in August 2008, or was it just a coincidence

    I think just a coincidence...

A record break would be cool, but as most people know most of the users are guests, so it would be hard to get them to be online also.

I think that does not count guests so that's why there is no newer record. Most people just lurk in iToy forums, only some register

That was the date on which a major newsmedia article linked to a thread on this forum.

The moment Jobs says the iPhone goes to Verizon, the record will be broken.

    Write that down.

The current highest active users occured (I think) with the iPhone girl story. I believe Yahoo (or someone similar) were linking here from their news pages.

There was a front page articel, but I can't find it. Here is the forum thread.

It says "Currently Active Users: 9795 (1049 members and 8746 guests)." So shouldnt guests count?
