Uses for a dead powermac G4?

Well my powermac g4 400mhz finally died on me today :(

The psu blew up so I stripped it and now have an empty case!

I can't bring my self to throw it away so I was think about some uses for it?

I came up with putting another mac in it, turning it into a fish tank or making a media centre out of it?

Have you guys got any cool ideas for it? I would love its design to live on even if the machine is long gone!

why not just replace the psu? you can buy them on ebay for your model around $30 you could even buy another whole tower for $50-75.
 
Because, it was already not showing any video after replacing the graphics card so I decided to cut my losses!
 
Um...I suppose it's too late for this, but you could have EASILY changed around a few pins on a working PSU and had your mac back in order...yeah...sorry.

It's how I got my MDD back in order :D
 
:) Tis ok! But the mac was already partially dead and a bit of a money drainer so i figured that was that when it blew up! I really want something creative and unusual from the case now though!

If you were a PC user, turning the G4 into a kitty litter box would likely be your top choice.
 
Yeah! It makes so much sense to put an LCD tv in place of a television tube, so you can take up all the space of a tube but have the quality of an LCD!

...or just keep the LCD and enjoy it's 3" depth -.-
 
Maybe turn it into a homemade drobo-type device. Or maybe just a file server. I can't live with less than 3TB myself.

Condolences for what happened. I think that mac has a sentimental value that is why you can't just throw it away. I have a good idea for you so that you can use it. You can use its parts and do a frame for the monitor, and mac piano for the keyboard. :D
 
as there are quiet frequently mac minis without case turning up on ebay implant one of those inside , enough space is inside for a mini logic board and drives and you might find even space fot the powerbrick inside , so no problem there and the choise if powerpc g4 or intel is entirely yours , but somehow i still think a g4 should be inside, so why not try getting a

Yea I think that I will put a mac mini in it :) Load it up with big hard drives DVD writer etc :)
