I have a 4k TV that I often use as external monitor with my phone or old Macbook Pro. I recently got the new 13.3" MBP. Even though I can drive an external 4K monitor via HDMI, somehow it won't drive my TV via HDMI. Is this an issue with this MBP (the non-touchbar version), or am I just doing something wrong? It would be pathetic if this laptop couldn't drive the TV, since even my smartphone can...

OK, so what might I be doing wrong? Is there anything in the settings I need to enable? I'm so confused about this...

Which hdmi cable are you using?? which usb c adapter etc. If you can use a mini display to hdmi cable with 4K support and usb c connection.

OP:

I believe you need TWO items:

1. A "USB-c to HDMI 2.0" adapter/converter (MUST be HDMI 2.0).
2. A -HIGH SPEED- HDMI 2.0 compatible connecting cable.

Not all HDMI cables are "created equal". Unless you use one that can "support the speed", you won't get a 4k display.

The thing is: u used exactly the cable combination I have now tondo 4k from my previous 15" MBP. It just won't work with this 13".
