Using 60% RAM? WHAT IS THIS!

so theres this thing in istatmenus and in activity monitor called kernel_task and WTF is this its driving me crazy...i'm going to upgrade my ram to 4gb but until then i rly wanna know how i can fix this plz help

Kernel task is OS X's kernel.

You should Force Quit it.

Seriously, just restart your computer.

my suggestion is to not worry about the way OS X and its system processes utilise RAM. just check out thread, read [url=http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1342?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_AU]this article and only show "My Processes" in Activity Monitor.
