So I've had a late 2012 2.6Ghz "server" mac mini in my music studio for over a year now, and it's a workhorse! For years I've been using it with a 27" HD monitor which is fine, but given how close I sit to the monitor, the resolution isn't great, particularly for text.
I’ve been eyeballing upgrading to a 28" 4k monitor, but the maximum output resolution of the mac mini (according to the specs) is 2560x1600. I have read that you can run it at 4k with some workarounds, but only at 30Hz, which doesn’t sound like a good idea.
It’s been forever since I’ve bought a monitor or anything like that, so I’m not sure if you can run a 4k monitor (eyeballing something like this) at a lower resolution (2560x1600 in this case) without it looking like ****.
So yeah, is anyone running an older mac mini with a decent monitor? If so, what?
