Using a broken SR MBP15" lcd screen as a stand alone monitor.

Has anyone done this? I broke my SR MBP a while back but the LCD panel is still in perfect condition. I understand that i'll probably need a convertor to get the dvi/whatever signal to the appropriate signal for the LCD panel, but has anyone done this and can point me in the right direction?
