My friend just picked up a brand new mac and let me borrow his 10.5 disc. when i popped the disc in i got to the point on the 10.5 disk to select the language and it said this mac could not be upgraded. Can i not use his disk to upgrade my 10.4 or am i doing something wrong?? Any help here would really be appreciated.

Yes, you are doing something wrong! You're breaking the license agreement for installing the software. On top of that install discs will only work on the Mac model it was sold with.

    Here's your solution.

    1. In after moral and ethical quagmire
    2. Is the disc grey? Those discs are machine specific

First, the restore disks supplied with a new Mac only work with the type of Mac they were purchased with.

Second, you should purchase your own copy of Leopard if you want to install it.

Not sure about the Intel disks, but the grey PPC disks I have been able to use on different machines. Just can't use the second disk (iLife goodies).
