Hello Forum gurus.

New to the mac world, just got two machines, one for wife and me. 😀 Very excited about making the switch from windows.

We have hooked the MacBook up to a 22inch HD LCD, and want to be able to use it with the lid closed. Is this possible? We have the apple keyboard and mightymouse.

Thank you in advance and sorry for the simple nature of my question.

Cheers,

Just close the lid, it will go to sleep. Then press a key on an external keyboard or mouse and it will wake up again with the display on the external monitor.

However, after activating the external monitor as the only monitor to show up, I will open back the lid.. since it will get hot when the lid is close..

You can also boot from the external monitor, but connecting it while the computer is off and closing the lid as soon as you power up.
