Using a MBP for long periods of time

I would like to know how safe is it for me to play games on it for long periods of time (4-5 hours) while having the power cable plugged in. The laptop gets really hot.

My specs are MBP C2D 17", maxed out HD and RAM.

It should be safe enough. If you're worried about the heat, put in on a stand so it gets more air, and/or use smcFanControl to increase the fan speed.

Agreed. If you're running the processor for 4-5 hours playing games, any comptuer will get hot. Get some air around it and it should be okay (but you may want to lay of the games for a bit...)

if that doesn't fry your computer, i'm sure that gaming for so long period will fry your brain 😀

My MBP is always on... always. It never gets a break. And it has been solid as a rock. Go for it

Play, surf, download, do whatever you do, just make sure that your MBP has space to breath and you should be fine. Apples need air!

My Macs are never off, either. I let the LCD screen sleep after 10 minutes of non use and sleep them when I don't use it for over 2 hours or so. Even my Ti PB has been function perfectly over 4 years (I sold it recently) under the same condition. As long as you are not abusing the machines, it should be fine to keep them running and running as you wish.

I've had mine going non stop, folding 24/7 for the past 2 weeks. So I'm using nearly 100% of the processor constantly. No problems whatsoever. 😎
