Using a nearby iOS device to enter text on Apple TV

Bought an Apple TV 4k a while back - used my iPhone 6 to set it up. The iPhone keyboard pop-up worked great, far easier than using the remote or siri.

I caved in and bought an iPhone X the other day. Moved everything over - works fine apart from the keyboard pop-up. Tried everything and followed this article towards the bottom - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT200107

Refuses to work - any ideas. Hope I don't have to wipe the Apple TV and start over!

The keyboard doesn't always reliably appear automatically on my iPhone either. I'm using a workaround: I added the Apple TV Remote widget to my control center (Settings/Control Center/Customize). Access is just as easy as the automatic notification by swiping up (or swiping down on your X).

^ what he said. Add it to your control center and then just bring it up when you need it.
