HomePod Using a pair of HomePods 2nd gen as Mac Speakers?

How is the experience? Can you control volume from your keyboard? How bad/good is the lag/sync for music, video, Factime/Zoom, and gaming? Is the experience fairly seamless?

I have a stereo pair set up in my office around my Mac Mini and two Studio Displays. However, I only use them for Air Play music from the Music App. As actual speakers they are not fantastic and often lag behind if you set them as the audio output from the menu bar. For example, having them set as the audio output source and you press the volume up or down button on your keyboard, the HomePods won’t respond immediately.
