I am having the following problem when connecting my macbook to my new Sony projector.

The projector is only showing a portion of the computer screen. It seems as if the computer is dividing the notebook screen and the proyector and I can move objects between the two screens. Its like having two displays.
But i dont want this. I just want to have the projector show exactly what the macbook is showing on its screen so that I can watch movies.

help please

Set the MacBook to Mirror Desktop in the Displays System Preference. You also may be sending out a resolution beyond what the Sony can display, so you may need to adjust your resolution.

You can however keep it in the current extended desktop mode, and just drag the movie's window to the projector screen, then use the full screen command for the program. With the exception of VLC (where you have to tell it to use the other screen) the movie will play only on the second screen, leaving you free to do other things on the MacBook. I would often watch movies while playing games on my PowerBook G4, using the second screen.
