Hey, I’m switching from a Mac Pro to a Mac Studio and need to put my sonnet 4x4 raid card somewhere. A friend has a razor core x enclosure that he doesn’t need anymore but we couldn’t rest it yet- would this thing be able to drive my raid card?
I know about the speed limitations, just - would the card be recognized?

Razer Core X is recognized and showing 40 Gb/s in System info on my M1 Air

GPU inside is not recognized, but that’s expected.

Other PCIe cards should work. Unfortunately I have nothing to try.

Thank you- could you maybe shoot a quick video to show how noisy the fans are? I can maybe put it in a small cabinet next to my desk but I hate noisy fans especially next to the whisper quiet Mac Studio. I hate powering up my promise Pegasus for that reason alone!

Although the GPU is not usable with Apple Silicon, shouldn't it still be listed in the PCIe tab of System Information.app? Or in ioreg or IORegistry.app or pciutils? Since there's no Apple Silicon drivers for GPUs, there's no stopping a third party kext from doing something with the GPU on Apple Silicon.

I have a similar situation. My Mac Pro 2010 just died in last week. Then got a Macbook Pro 2019 i9 and an EGPU enclosure (Sonnet Breakaway 650). I tried all the PCIe cards that I used in my Mac Pro 2010 and put them into the egpu enclosure connecting to my Macbook Pro one by one to try out. Including a Areca SAS 6Gps PCIe controller.... which was manufactured in 2012. They've all worked out in the egpu enclosure smoothly without problem.
