Using a scroll ball mouse in Lion.

I have a 2006 Apple Pro mouse with the scroll ball. Can I use Lion in a normal way, without all the swipey stuff? Or does the OS depend on having swiping capabilities?

It doesn't depend on it per se.
You'll lose an important part of the experience by not having a Magic Mouse or a Magic Trackpad, but other than that Lion will work.
