In a van down by the river
I sold my niece my old iPhone X that I used on Verizon. It is unlocked. She uses Sprint and can't seem to make any calls with the new phone. She put in her old SIM. is Sprint going to keep her from using the new phone on their network? Anything special she needs to do?

In the past that was an issue. Verizon iPhones didn't work on Sprint. Not sure about the X.

Maybe call sprint and see if there’s something they need to do to make it work?

Not sure if Verizon phones work on Sprint, but your niece will need a new Sprint SIM card. The Sprint SIMs are tied to the phone and are not swappable.

Thanks for the info. She is headed to the Sprint store now, to try and get things sorted. I hope they don't tell her she can't use it.

She said she was going to the Sprint store.

If her current SIM card is not compatible then you're right.

However, if it is then all she needs do is give Sprint the ESN of the phone and the serial number of the SIM so she can get on the network.

Once she does that though, her old phone will cease to work.

Niece had to buy a new SIM card at Best Buy, as the Sprint store didn't have any. iPhone X is working as it should now. Thanks for the replies, especially about possibly needing to buy a new SIM card. She is very happy with the iPhone X, as she is coming from a 6s.
