My MacBook did not come with a firewire, so I am looking for alternate ways of capturing video from my Mini DV camera to edit in Final Cut Pro.

Does anyone know if it is possible to capture video directly to your external hard drive (with firewire) then transfer it to your laptop using USB? If so, How?

Any other suggestions for capturing Mini DV video without a firewire port?

Thank you!

How do you want to capture DV footage without the Firewire port?

It is not possible, there is no (ZERO) USB to Firewire adapter.

Also an external HDD with Firewire and USB ports will not work, if you connect the HDD via USB to your Mac and then the camera via Firewire to the HDD.

You need to have access to a computer with a Firewire port.
