Hello there! I am very new to Macs, yet my boss wanted me to look at a solution to using Apple Remote Desktop (ARD). When we use ARD to push software to a big distribution of our Macs it appears that the file must be in .pkg or .mpkg format. We cannot push .dmg or .app to multiple Macs at the same time via ARD.

My question I imagine is multiple folds.

1.) Are we doing something wrong?
2.) Is there a program out there to convert files to pkg? He was using Iceburg but hated it.
3.) Is there an alternative we could use besides ARD to accomplish our goals?
4.) Any Suggestions? ;P

I greatly appreciate any replies to this. Thanks in advance!

ARD requires software packages to be in .pkg or .mpkg. There are several ways to create the Package files.

You can use Package Maker which I believe comes with ARD or my personal favorite is Jamf Composer. It is really easy to use, once you have the .pkg file you can push it out to multiple machines via ARD.
