Hi everyone,

In the past, some Mac computers could function as an Airport base station. Is it possible to make an Apple TV work as a wireless network range extender? We have an Airport base station upstairs, but the signal doesn't quite make it downstairs. I thought maybe I could put an Apple TV downstairs, plug it into an ethernet cable, and have it extend the wireless signal. What do you think?

Thanks!

I don't think it's possible without heavy hacking.
Airport Express does exactly what you described.

Not worth the effort

Hi,

I think you are much better of purchaisng a third party Wireless Base Station as the Apple TV is designed more for receiving signals than broadcasting. I'm not sure where you are from but here in AU you can pick up a repeater or base station for around $50.
