    Hello Folks
I have a late 2009 IMAC and would like to be able to show iPhoto slide shows on my big screen TV in another room.
    Is this possible please?
I read that screen mirroring is only possible with later macs.
Any advice would be helpful before I make a purchase.
    Best Wishes John

The Apple TV gives you functionality to be able to display sideshows on your tv without AirPlay mirroring.

Thank you for your reply, but is the slide show facility from iPhoto or does the ATV generate its own shows from your computers stored pictures?
    Thanks for any further info.

    ATV generates the slide show

ATV generates the slide show itself. There are options for transition effects, etc. The source of the photos is albums within the iphoto library, which must be available (i.e. the imac must be on the same network, turned on, and not asleep).

    Hope that helps.
