Using AppleTV Flash Patchstick. Do I need a flashdrive or will any USB Drive work?

Any USB should work I reccomend downloading a free version and testing it before buying ATV Flash or patchstick.ca 
check http://patchstick.wikispaces.com/USB+sticks for a list of working sticks. The base version of Patchstick 3.0 is free of charge and you can test it as long as you want.
Thanks Tom. I managed to find that list. However I'd have to go out and get a little flash drive since I gave mine away.
Hopefully Airforcekid if right and I can just use a external USB drive. I have a couple of those I can test out.

Once this is installed you don't need the drive in their anymore correct?

You will be able to remove it and the hack will remain however any movies or songs will be gone that was on it until its reinserted.
It looks like things aren't happy with either of my USB drives. I guess I'm out to get a flash drive.
I only got up to running the patchstick with terminal.

I used a pny 2.0. Every other flash drive for me failed. That was only a couple though. Good luck.
