I mean I’d assume there would be a difference , but it wouldn’t be enough to dictate changing it to an all black wallpaper .

Just use the phone with what you want and enjoy it

It depends on what your auto-lock is set to and if you have a super colorful wallpaper. You will save battery, but it might not be much depending on how you use your phone. My home screen is the largest drain on my battery via settings app, so it definitely impacts me.

The display while displaying full white on full brightness uses 3.75watts. But if displaying full black it uses basically zero watts.
If I were to take a guess a full white wallpaper would use at lease 3x the power compared to full black wallpaper.

But it goes without saying this only makes a difference if your daily routine consists of staring at your home screen for long periods of time. Which is understandable if you weren’t using boring wallpapers like full white or full black.

But let’s say you are reading a book on the phone the entire time, then using black theme can more than double your battery life.

I saw this earlier today. I'm glad it's here as an option when I NEED battery life on a day or days. I don't think I'd use it regularly though (talking about dark mode, not wallpaper). It makes total sense that this would be effective for preserving battery life. I like using it normally, and I'm rarely in situations where I can't charge. The battery life is better than my regular 7, so I'm not complaining yet. I will use dark mode for travel though.

Yeah it's not something I would use regular either tbh

I use it frequently and actually prefer it in day to day use. Just wish more 3rd party apps worked with smart invert.

Hang on, are you just staring at the home screen for hours a day or something? Don’t understand how it could be the biggest drain. Mine’s 5% of my usage.

With OLED you do want to lean toward darker colors and black when possible because it will give a boost to battery life.

The amount may not be huge but there are occasions when you will be very thankful for an extra 15 minutes at the end of the day.

Going with pitch black wallpaper and setting it to still rather than perspective will give a slight bump.

Isn't it Home and Lock screen? Usually it's high for me because I reply to messages from the Lock screen more than the actual Messages app.
