so i have an ATT data card that i hardly ever use, does anyone know if i cut up the sim card to fit into the ipad, if it will just work with unlimited service that is on my Data card???
I did this. I have a 3G modem from AT&T and I modified its SIM to fit in my iPad. It worked without any problems. The only thing I had to do was change the APN on the iPad to wap.cingular.
I bought a micro-SIM-to-SIM adapter and it goes right back into my 3G modem without any trouble - I don't need to change any settings to get it work in it. I haven't been out and about much to really give a good answer, but no, I have not gone over my 5GB cap.
AT&T announced some changes to the iPhone data plans, but iPad 3G owners are affected, too: AT&T is doing away with the $30/month unlimited data plan. Instead you'll pay $25/month for 2GB:

We're talking about AT&T 3G data cards/modems here - they have different plans not affected by these changes. My AT&T 3G modem plan is one that provides up to 5GB of data per month.
I took the plunge and cut my 3G sim down. I planned to used it in the new iPhone or sell my iPad and get a 3G iPad and use my iDevice as my air card (ala mywi).
I bought a 16GB iPhone 4 this weekend but I kept getting no sim found. I understand that this is an issue with some iPhones so I tried a 3G iPad and got the same message. The sim works fine in iPhone 3G's and 3GS's. And even though I cut it down to size it works fine in my USB 881U.
Has anyone else had this problem. I was going to buy another sim and transfer the service and try to cut it down again. Short of it being some weird sim compatibility issue any ideas. Its kinda killed my intentions on getting an iPhone4 and I was ready to sell my iPad and get a 3G enabled one.
