So i want to create a blog style website. Much like how Macrumors is set up. I have a good understanding of HTML as well as CSS. The only problem is that I have NO clue about PHP and MySQL.

I was wondering if anyone had any tutorials or ebooks. I am looking to create the site within the next 2-3 weeks. It could be a rough. I just want to get something out for now.

You might want to try integrating WordPress. If you already know HTML and CSS then all you really need to do is modify the CSS. You won't have to touch the PHP unless you want to do something specific.

IM a pretty fluent PHP user, and based upon my knowledge and experience, creating an entire blog solely on HTML CSS and some SQL is going to be a pretty rough road.

I second going with something like WordPress (or other pre-built blogging systems), unless you're actually wanting to learn PHP and MySQL in the process. There's many headaches that can come up trying to code up a blog if you're just learning the technologies. Your code can quickly come under the control of a spammer and that's not something you want to deal with while you're trying to learn.
