Hello all,

Came across a great deal on a G5 and was glad to jump ship on PC. Can't get off the ground though. I want to use a monitor I already had (a Dell) which has DVI. The G5 has both DVI and ADC.

However, I just get a grey screen when I go DVI from cpu to monitor. I'm guessing this is because the DVI is labeled #2 on the box, and perhaps I'm just seeing the second monitor display. I don't know to make the DVI slot the default slot so I can use that as the primary monitor though. I do see an ADC to DVI adapter, would I have to get that?

Thanks a million. Excited to be joinging your legions...lol.

I ran a G5 for years with only the DVI port in use. Something is wrong. Try a different cable/display, and if that fails, pick up an ADC to DVI adapter and see if it works there.

Thanks

Thanks BR for getting back to me so quickly.

I did try it with another monitor (though using a DVI/VGA adaptor) and it didn't work either. I don't have any other monitors to try it on, so guess I'll have to roll the $30 dice on the adapter and see what happens.

Thanks again...

Philip
