using external display as main display

I connected my macbook pro to a dell u2711 and want to use it as a main monitor, how can I do that? it works as an extended monitor, when my macbook is on

Arrange displays as you want them, then move the menu bar to your external

No problem! The same thing with the plugging-in happened to me as well, I was cursing... should have read the article a bit more thorough.

yeah I had it working few hours ago, but the macbook was plugged in - didn't think it would make a difference
