My girlfriend and I are taking a flight to Texas Sunday, and are wanting to load up an old Nintendo emulator and play Nintendo on her MacBook. Is there anything that would keep us from bringing and using a wired game controller on the plane? I know you can't bring anything wireless, but would there be a problem with it? To put it this way, do they allow wired mice on-board planes? I can't see the two as being entirely different.

I've used a Playstation 2 controller on my MBP during a flight recently.

I don't see any problems with bringing a wired device and using it. After all, everyone uses wired headphones on planes anyways.

However, as soon as someone tries to use the wire on a game controller as a weapon, expect the TSA and the FAA to ban anything with wires.

After that, they'll ban all clothing at the airport and on planes. Which could be a good thing, but be careful what you wish for. ;)

Seriously, a wired controller should be no problem. The real problem is getting enough room in Coach to open the MBP, especially if the guy in front leans his seat back.
