Hi guys just installed the GM Seed of OSX Lion, and i only have 9GB remaining ... anyway lion gives you a break down and it says 55GB other ... anyway to find out what this 55GB of space is?

Where are you getting this info from? About This Mac, then More Info?
 
Not to tread-jack the OP, but I'm actually curious as to what the "Other" is classified as I have 81.57 GB of other. Taking a few filetypes I assume the OS won't know how to classify, I can only get about ~ 10-12 gigs accounted for.

I have no idea. I went looking for answers when that is what I thought the OP meant. I could not find much, but gave up because my HD usage matches up with what I'm seeing in Activity Monitor and the daily.out cron task results, i.e Disk status:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/disk0s2 465Gi 122Gi 343Gi 27% /
