HomePod Using HomePod Mini at work

I recently got a new job and have been busily setting up my office. In anticipation I bought 2xHomePod Mini but I’m having terrible trouble setting them up. My IPad and HomePods are on the same (work) WiFi network, but they will not function as a stereo pair. Although I can play music (in one or the other) by using “Hey, Siri”, I cannot AirPlay from Apple Music! Both worked fine on my home WiFi network.

I suspect this is my work network playing up. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this and found a work-around?
