Hi,

I’m still waiting for my pre-order to ship (damn UK apple website) and haven’t had chance to look at this in the Apple Store...

I was wondering what white-on-black reading was like in the iBooks (or any similar for that matter) App with the OLED screen. Can someone tell me what it’s like? I’m especially interested in how it looks for reading in the dark.

Thanks.

In the brief comparison I made last night, the black background seemed more solidly black on the OLED than on my 7 Plus - there wasn’t any sense of a black image being backlit…

I think it looks better, and is potentially easier to read from.

The white text itself seems warmer, but I think that’s more to do with the effects of True Tone.

I’m curious about whether Apple optimised the layout of text in iBooks for the X display. It seems like there’s a little too much wasted space in the margins and header & footer. This is especially bad in landscape view (again, compared against a Plus).

Having said that, I love the X and reading text on it is wonderful. It’s just whether the book layout is something that can be improved upon in an update, or something I just need to adjust to.
