Using iChat for first time

Hi all,
i'm trying to figure out how to use iChat but to no avail. Was on tiger before but without the webcam. Can anyone tell me what to do in order to get it to work? Or is there a website that teaches me on how to use iChat? Thank you.

I.m currently on Mac Book Pro 2.2G ahving upgraded from the old Powerbook G4.
I'm just not sure how to use iChat. Like how to get me connected to other people and such. Sorry for such dumb question, but its my first time using it. Thank you.
