Using iMac Late 2012 With TB3 PC as display

Does anyone know if it's possible to use a custom-built rig with a thunderbolt 3 motherboard and connect it to a late 2012 iMac with target display mode?

Just trying to see if I could use that instead of having a boot camp partition and still be able to use the iMacs display.

I've read that TB2 to a TB2 pc worked in Target Display Mode, but I don't think many tried it.

Edit: forget post, forgot it would use integrated graphics anyway which is bad.
