Hello, I am currently overseas in China with my verizon iphone, which is useless to me since the only phones they use over here require sim cards. I like to have my phone in airplane mode with the wifi turned on so my battery lasts longer and doesn't search for roaming services all day. This works with safari, games and e-mail notifications, but not with the new imessage.

Is there no way to enable the wifi-only messaging while disabling my speak network? Thanks.

This doesn't answer your question but when I turned on Airplane Mode and turned on wifi, when I went into the Messages app I received a warning message that Airplane Mode must be disabled.
