Hi guys.

So Im traveling in Japan right now and have no cellular/data connection.
Im in deep need of using a map outside of my hotel.

I will be buying a Prepaid sim card soon but until then, I need some guidance.

Currently, I have a iPhone 4S iOS 5.1.1 jailbroken.
Do you guys know a way to use google (or any other kind) maps offline?

Thanks in advance.

You can pre-download the location you want with internet connection (free wifi). You will still be able to see the map when you go offline.

Yup. Get a nav app with locally stored map data. Navigon is mentioned above. TomTom is another option. This is by no means an exhaustive list.

I can use my NAVIGON map app offline, but it won't use GPS, just the map, unless you have service.
GPS does not require data. What do you mean "it won't use GPS"? Do you have airplane mode enabled?

Are those apps have fully loaded maps or do I have to cache them first?

Just map would be fine.
It would be great if GPS worked with it though.
Is there an option for navigation maps?

GPS will work with it, it will show you your location, but it will not guide you i.e. turn-by-turn directions are absent.

If you want navigation look at Sat Nav 2/Skobbler, it used to be free, now it's like $1.99 or something and you can buy an offline map in it's options for around $3.

So for City Maps2 Go, you dont have to pay for extra maps?
I dont really need a "turn by turn", all I need to know is my location so.

City Maps 2Go is a commercial app but you won't have to pay for extra maps once you buy the app, with the Lite version, you get the app for free but you will only be able to load one map.

Just a quick update, in the app store there is a app called "CoPilot GPS".
I got it when it was free, not sure about right now, but its basically an offline map
where you can download the maps you want and get guidance on it as well.

The voice turn by turn costs extra money. And maps in Europe and Canada costs money as well.

But US maps are free so who ever needs to use the maps in the US without data connection, get this.

Cheers.
