I want to use my iPhone on my iHome. I know it's not 100% compatible but you can hear the music. It asks me if I want to use it with Airplane Mode on but I want to be able to send text messages and get phone calls and stuff even though it's connected. Will it mess up my iPhone if I don't turn on Airplane Mode and listen to music?

Thanks in advance.

It will not mess up your iPhone. However If you use EDGE or are getting a phone call with it plugged in, you will get a loud annoying beeping sound, and you won't expect it. It has woken me up before.

Yeah I hear that noise all the time that I put my iPhone near my TV or iHome and stuff like that. It has woken me up a lot of times too. lol But I'm glad I can use it safely, I just hate that sound. :D :(

That would be called GSM interference. I am surprised that the FCC approved the use with all the interference it creates with unshielded speakers, which are most of the speakers on the market. Sad really.

Just to let you know, iHome sells a unit for the iPhone now (I realize you already own an iHome)

Unless I'm mistaken, EVERY cell phone will cause such problems with the non-shielded speakers. If the FCC didn't approve the iPhone, it would have to not approve every other phone out there.

I do wonder if over the next few years that EVERY dockable speaker system gets shielding for iPhone compatibility. Although if they don't find a cheaper way to shield the device ($50 more for it on iHome??), I doubt that'll be the case.
