Using iPhone wall charger to charge up iPad?

I live in the UK, but I'm going to get an iPad in America in a couple of months. Will the iPhone wall charger have sufficient watt power to charge up the iPad efficiently?

It will charge, just more slowly. This has been asked many times.

Why not use the iPad charger? It deals with 240v and would only need a different plug. It would charge your iPhone and iPad without issues for either.
