Using iSight to take shots

you can use quickime pro to capture movies......but there is a program called 'image capture' in applications. (use the finder).

Though I've never tried taking pictures of myself using this method, you should be able to do it from within iChat. Just plug the iSight in, open ichat, and click on the camera image beside your name. You'll get a video feed from the iSight, and from the Audio menu there's an option called "take snapshot"—the keyboard shortcut is alt-command-s.
