Well, I don't have bluetooth on my G5 (I know, I know...) so I'm trying the USB but I don't know if iSync is pulling address from .mac or address book or entourage. How do I make sure everything is set-up correctly?

Thanks for the help!

In Entourage's preferences, look for the "sync services" menu item, and make sure you have iCal set up for sync.

One way to check to see if Entourage sync is working correctly is to see if any appointments made in Entourage show up automatically in iCal. You should have a calendar in iCal called Entourage. Sometimes it takes mine a minute to sync.

iSync will then pull the calendar items and transfer them to the phone.

Thanks Stev! Looks like mine starting working the same time you posted. What you said is what I had done - worked great! Now, if there was just an easy way to transfer all the contacts from my old phone... :(

Thanks again!

Hey, first post:

I just got a v3m less than a week ago, and today recieved a dlink bluetooth dongle to sync my phone to my mac. (iMac G5 2Ghz 10.4.8) I do use verizon and i have the .0A firmware mentioned previously. Despite this, my computer located my phone and isync popped open to sync with it, but file transfers do not work. My manual from verizon says that i should be able to transfer files if i use the bluetooth link->handsfree->locate menu. When i do this, though, my phone can't locate my mac, not vice versa. I would like to put my own music on the phone and get pics off and whatnot. Does anyone know why the phone wouldn't find my network, and would you advise firmware flashing or getting a card reader? Sorry that this wasn't any help to anyone else.

I do like the phone, and other than this, I have no problem with Verizon.

The Firmware I have is NEWC_01.05.0A and I am under no impression of having file transfer capability. That's what started all this. I have not found a way to get files onto the phone yet at all. I can get pics off the phone with a microSD card reader, but that is a pain as you basically have to disassemble the phone to pull the card, but that is the only way I have found to do it.

I use the menu items you mentioned to find headsets, but have not been able to get the Mac to show up there either.

Sorry I'm not more help. I like the phone too, its just the crap that Verizon does to it. I saw a Razr from Cingular that had all the capabilities, bluetooth, etc. All of my friends are on Verizon so it was costing me a bundle to call them. that's why I switched.

Same here. My whole family and all of my friends are on Verizon. I know probably five people on networks other than Verizon around where I live. It seems within reason that Verizon should enable BT OBEX on the razr and other phones if they get enough complaints, i just want it for music and pics. There are still people that will buy the VCAST pack for TV, mobile web and whatnot. Despite the overpricing. We'll just have to see, i guess.

I have been planning on going in and complaining, but finding the time is the problem right now. It really is a pain not having that service. The other problem is the local Verizon store is an adventure in iteself. And I thought the DMV was bad!

I ran across a post somewhere mentioning that it had to do with the number of events stored in the calendar... so maybe try decreasing how far it tranfers out? (I had mine at 4 weeks out, but my calender is sparsely populated).

I had the same problem and this fixed it...I work every third day and had that recurring event ending "never" in iCal...wouldn't sync. I changed that so it ended in a year and it worked fine.

Geez, i really feel for all of you guys in the US. Why would Verizon cut such key features of a phone?? I just dont understand.

Thank God i live in Australia and the RAZR/Mac Sync functionalities are fine here, and none of the problems above are an issue. Please don't think this is a Motorola issue... the RAZR was a ground-breaking phone with looks & functionality combined. I love this phone! Once the RAZR was released, there have been so many clones from other companies like Samsung etc. that try to replicate the look, i mean they look identical!! Anyway, it seems that Verizon is the culprit here and i cant understand their business logic. Just my 2c

I can tell you how my story ended, if that's any help.

I stopped trying. I just don't even bother to try to synch the thing anymore. That's the level of frustration I reached.

Motorola and Verizon are a deadly combination. In two years, I'm done with both.

I don't know if you have tried this already, but mine worked right out of the box, then later that day.... it wouldn't work anymore.... I called verizon, they said that it was "physically impossible" for it to have done it at ALL.... WHAT?????? I was about to fire verizon etc etc..... but on the Mac website, it said about the v3c to turn off and turn back on.... voila.. it worked again... just thought it would be worth a try

huh?

So I am a complete newbie to this whole thing, and I bought my verizon V3m completely unaware that it would be so much more...limited than my cingular phone.

i would like to flash it or whatever is required to open up and enable file transfers with my mbp.

anyone who can give me an explination layman would be my best friend and i would buy you a cookie.

thanks :)
