Hi everyone.

I have a Mac pro cheese grater 3.1 fitted with 4 drives. I have been using El Capitan on my main drive for many years, and I would like to move to Catalina, installed on another drive. I have about 6000 songs on my iTunes in El Cap, and I don't want to copy these over as the drive capacity is limited. I would simply like iTunes in Catalina to use or refer to the songs in iTunes El cap. I have tried a few things but nothing seems to work.

Any thoughts or help with this would be very appreciated.

Thank you.

Can you share with the rest of the class? :)

Yes. The rough and ready version is that when you are booted into Catalina, you launch iTunes / Music whilst holding down the option key. This shows a message asking you to locate your iTunes library, so you then navigate to the music folder on the El Capitan drive, and look for the iTunes library.itl file (in the iTunes folder). This will load your full iTunes library into Catalina.

I'm more than happy to provide step by step instructions if anyone needs them.
