I am about to install Office: Mac 2008 because my PC died & was sent to home office for "repair" (may take weeks).

1 - can I open & modify Excel 2003 files in this mac 2008 version?
2 - Mac 2008 excel docs - if sent to PC users, can they open them and modify them?
3 - Best Buy sold me a copy that says "service desk edition" on the front - is this normal?

HELP!!!
Suzanne

1. Yes
2. Yes (save the file in .xls format for Office 2003, .xlsx or .xls for Office 2007)
3. I guess its normal. No reason to worry.

About MS Office 2008

There is a new extension introduced in 2008. Like .xlsx for MS Excel and .docx for MS Word. So if U want others to edit ur files on old versions then U have to save it using "Save As" .doc otherwise they have to install the patch for running 2008 on their machines.
